Arctic Alaska

Click to find out more about what you can do to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Oil Development in the Western Arctic
The 23.5-million-acre National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (Reserve) lies in the northwestern third of America’s Arctic between the Brooks Range and the Arctic Ocean. It is a deceptive land, harsh and unforgiving, yet surprisingly fragile.

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Nestled between the Brooks Mountain Range and the shores of the Beaufort Sea in remote northeast Alaska, the narrow 1.5 million-acre coastal plain of the Refuge is the biological heart of this untamed wilderness.
